Heartburn or GERD can Kill

Heartburn is a common annoyance. The busy lifestyle, quick meals, fatty or spicy foods all contribute to the occasional need of a chewable pain reliever. The acceptance of heartburn as an inconvenient, but natural, part of the daily grind can blind you to the warning that a severe heartburn symptom can bring.

Heartburn as a Disorder

Heartburn can be a symptom as well as a disorder. Simple heartburn or GERD can be controlled and dealt with. However, heartburn can signal the presence of a much more serious problem. If it’s heartburn, you will have a burning sensation in the chest usually after eating. There may be a spread of the burning to the throat, sometimes accompanied by a bad taste, difficulty in swallowing, belching, coughing, hoarseness and/or wheezing.

It can become worse by lying down or bending over or by eating. Relief can come from an antacid. While the more severe heartburn symptoms may be mistaken for a heart attack, simple heartburn is usually not made worse by exercise. If there is any concern that the pain may signal a heart attack, get help quickly.

Bleeding Gums Signals Oral Hygiene Problems

By Shelton Graham

Bleeding gums are something many folks notice when they brush their teeth vigorously or when flossing their teeth. Although some people may consider this as a normal event, it may also be a sign of something more major. The symptoms are similar to those of swollen gums, and sometimes when one is present, so is the other. In this situation, not having good oral cleanliness habits may be the culprit.

This kind of infection is caused when bacteria grow and forms a sticky residue on the teeth and under the gum line called plaque. If left deserted, it could progress to gingivitis, the top dental problem for folk over eighteen, or indicate heavy medical conditions whose symptoms just happen to show up in the mouth.

The immune response sends white blood cells to the affected area which causes inflammation which results in bleeding, swelling and in a few cases receding of the gums. If ignored, where the plaque is allowed to toughen and accumulate, periodontitis, a prolonged condition can happen that causes a separation of gums from the teeth.

In addition, when this happens pockets of infection develop in the spaces created which leads to bone loss and worse teeth become loose, move around and at last may fall out. Inflamed gums are thought to be the reason for more lost teeth than through tooth rot. Either way you must consult a dentist at the 1st sign of persistent gum bleeding.

Causes for bleeding gums could be traced to neglected gums, teeth or mouth. Bleeding gums are an indication of an unhealthy mouth, because there is no known natural cause. If you are suffering from this and you favor a non-medical remedy, try changing your eating habits, for example eating 3 meals a day, include the acceptable quantity of vegetables and fruit and most significantly, if you snack between meals, duck carbohydrates.

If you aren't someone who enjoys fruit, an alternative is additions. For example, it is important to maintain a good level of vitamin C in your body which assists in maintaining healthy gums. An additional supplement, co-enzyme Q10 is also understood to be helpful in some cases for folk who suffer from bleeding gums.

Sadly the most typical reason for developing bleeding gums is simply because folk don't follow a consistent routine for cleaning their teeth and gums. This involves more than brushing two or three times per day, but also the use of floss, mouth wash and regular teeth cleaning from a dentist. It's vital that you make it a habit to practice good oral hygiene habit because it is necessary for preventing plaque increase, which is a dire threat to your gums as well as to your teeth.
