Heartburn or GERD can Kill

Heartburn is a common annoyance. The busy lifestyle, quick meals, fatty or spicy foods all contribute to the occasional need of a chewable pain reliever. The acceptance of heartburn as an inconvenient, but natural, part of the daily grind can blind you to the warning that a severe heartburn symptom can bring.

Heartburn as a Disorder

Heartburn can be a symptom as well as a disorder. Simple heartburn or GERD can be controlled and dealt with. However, heartburn can signal the presence of a much more serious problem. If it’s heartburn, you will have a burning sensation in the chest usually after eating. There may be a spread of the burning to the throat, sometimes accompanied by a bad taste, difficulty in swallowing, belching, coughing, hoarseness and/or wheezing.

It can become worse by lying down or bending over or by eating. Relief can come from an antacid. While the more severe heartburn symptoms may be mistaken for a heart attack, simple heartburn is usually not made worse by exercise. If there is any concern that the pain may signal a heart attack, get help quickly.

Do Wisdom Teeth Make You Wise?

By Cathy Howard

Wisdom teeth are not really a sign of wisdom, but could be a sign that you will suffer intense pain. The third and final set of molars to come out in your late teens or early twenties is called wisdom teeth. When healthy and well-aligned, they will help you chew and crush your food, wisdom teeth that are misaligned, however, will need to be extracted.

Wisdom teeth can be troublemakers when they do not come out correctly. They can grow out flat against your gum, or grow against neighboring teeth. Sometimes, they can grow angled inward or outward.

Bad alignment of wisdom teeth can cause pressure and damage nearby teeth, the jawbone, or nerves. Wisdom teeth that grow against the second molars can give you tooth decay by trapping plaque and germs.

In some cases, wisdom teeth can stay completely hidden inside the gum and the jawbone. Sometimes, they only partially poke out or erupt through the gum.

Teeth that remain partially or completely hidden in the gum and the jawbone are called impacted teeth.

Wisdom teeth that do not come out completely can cause bacteria to enter around the tooth and cause an infection. This results in pain, swelling, jaw stiffness, and general illness. Partially erupted teeth are also more prone to tooth decay and gum disease because they make cleaning your teeth more difficult.

Vitamin C Powder As A Dietary Supplement

By Richard Rosal

Vitamin C powder is a supplement comprising Ascorbic acid, an essential water-soluble vitamin needed by the body to complete a broad range of functions. It is primarily used as an anti-oxidant, preventing LDL (low density lipoprotein) cholesterol from causing oxidative damage, which in turn can lead to heart disease.

Vitamin C powder contains Ascorbic acid, a vital ingredient in the production of cells and tissue in your body. It is essential for the proper function and repair of blood vessels, bones, ligaments, the healing of wounds and formation of scar tissue as well as the maintenance of cartilage and strong teeth.

A vitamin C deficiency, also known as Scurvy, can have far reaching negative effects on your health and well being. Side effects of a lack of this important protein in the body are nosebleeds, swollen and painful joints, dry, scaly skin, bleeding gums and gingivitis, anemia, slow healing of wounds, weakened tooth enamel and a slower metabolic rate which can lead to weight gain. Hence you can see the benefits of adding regular doses of vitamin C powder to your diet.

Vitamin C powder contains anti-oxidants which are useful in the fight against free radicals. These are by products of our body's conversion process of food to energy. Anti-oxidants can protect against heart disease, the crippling effects of arthritis and even cancer. Anti-oxidants can dramatically reduce the negative effects of pollutants found in our air, water and food, as well as toxic chemical and cigarette smoke.

There are a variety of available options to consider when purchasing your vitamin C powder. Thanks to the convenience of modern society the consumer can choose from a wide range of products, some odorless and flavorless and some with additional nutrients, including calcium and magnesium. The addition of bicarbonate of soda makes for a fun and fizzy drink. An intake of 60 milligrams of Vitamin C is recommended for adults, an additional 35 milligrams to guard against free radicals for smokers.

Potential Dangers of Premature Menopause

By Keira Adams

Each woman will go through menopause at a certain stage in her life, whether she wishes to or not. The usual time at which a female starts this time is about 50, and it will most often last for a few years. There are also those who will begin the change while in their 40s. This is more often than not a result of hereditary causes or surgery such as a hysterectomy. But if a female ceases having her monthly periods any earlier than that, she is in all likelihood experiencing early menopause.

The warning signs and symptoms of early menopause are entirely the same as those that are experienced by older women experiencing this phase. In spite of this, there is an additional element that younger women need to handle too. They will often be subjected to emotional and mental difficulties as a result of their menopause symptoms and the enormous transitions happening inside the system at such an an early age.

Going through menopause at such an early age of course indicates that the woman can no longer conceive, and her child bearing days are ended. This can be emotionally problematic for a lot of of these women. Others, however, may appreciate a premature conclusion to their monthly periods and having to be concerned with birth control. Nonetheless, there are other problems that can arise that are more worrying.

These women are more threatened by specific health problems than those who undergo their change of life at the usual time. There is an increased possibility that they will develop osteoporosis, cancer of the colon or ovarian cancer. This is a result of the lower amounts of estrogen being produced by the system too early in life. There is also a small risk of developing gum disease, loss of teeth and cataracts in the eyes.

In the big picture, the rewards of no longer having periods and unwelcome pregnancies don't offset the risks. It's critical that every woman who is going through this condition stay under the vigilant treatment of her physician. He or she will be watchful for these health conditions and know how to address them at once if they occur. And ensure that you stay alert to any hints of these conditions yourself.

If you believe that you're going through early menopause, go to see your doctor immediately. Only they will be able to diagnose it correctly. They will perform various tests that can positively identify the condition. That way you'll be better equipped to handle any physical and psychological issues related to this point of life.

Fell Walking

By Martin Hiltlyne

Maybe you have never been to heaven which is the Lake District in England. It is a overpowering expanse of valleys and mountains. If your thinking about taking a vacation there, and your thinking about the time you have and want to use it in the best way, to see as much of the landscape as you can.

There is so much to see? Mountains big and small some easy some hard to climb. Just pick up a guide book and read the reviews of the experts. You will soon find out that fell walking is the best way to see the Lake District and all you have to do is put one foot in front of the other.

Scafell Pike, Scafell, Helvellyn, and Skiddaw are the only true mountains in the Lake district because they reach over three thousand feet. All the other mountains are known as Fells and to walk them is known as fell walking. You can explore all of them by this method which is almost the same as hiking.

The terrain and weather will dictate the type of gear you will need for walking so make sure you prepare your walks well in advance.

When planning a fell walking trip, it is important to be both well prepared and also not too bring too much, as failing to do either could make for an unpleasant situation. Before constructing a final list of what you will bring, determine whether you will be walking mostly in the low-level valleys or whether you will be attempting to summit a peak. Remember that higher elevations in Lake District are likely to be much cooler than the valleys and will require that you bring warmer clothing, walking boots and proper emergency supplies in case of an injury. Essentials in any pack are water, high energy foods, waterproof layers, whistle, flashlight and compass.

Before embarking on your trip, it might also be a good idea to consult with experience walkers via an online resource site or respected book on fell walking. Some of these resources may offer maps, pictures of trails and summits, and advice from walkers who have visited the Lakes District many times in the past. Another resource to consult would also be the website of the Lakes District National Park, which not only contains information about events and activities in the Park, but also offers the latest weather information.

Old Fashioned And Little Known Craft Using Herbs Can Help Ease Pain!...

By Anna Meenaghan

The majority of us have tried canvas art at one time or another, to create abstract paintings. Most people like to experiment now and then, so why not diversify into some other style of craft?

In my preceding articles, we established that we can use herbs for a mixture of effects, as well as to benefit your healthiness. One capital suggestion which I can endorse, is using herbs to put together wheat bags.

As an illustration, these bags,in effect, are used here the same way as you would use a hot water bottle. Therefore, they are very good for using to soothe sore or painful joints, or muscles. To make this you will need a quantity of dried herbs with rosemary, the bag itself, which you will have to make according to the size required, and, naturally, a quantity of wheat grains.

To be successful it is better to handle a very fine cotton, cambric, or else calico to make up the bag, seeing that this has to endure the temperature of the stove or microwave. To begin with you will need to sew up three sides of the bag. After that take your mixed herbs and wheat grains and stuff them into the bag, leaving about an inch at the top.

The next section should be to stitch up the last side. I think it is better to add a piece of twine, or even a shoelace would do, to gather close to the top and make a knot and possibly a tiny bow to secure it. Members of my family found this quite advantageous for easing the pain they suffered from having whiplash.

A person who has, really, suffered with this, will be aware of how troublesome and distressing this can truly be and any benefit you can find would be a boon. These bagsshould be heated up in the oven or microwave to start with, before you can apply them.

If you are using a ordinary oven it will obviously take a little longer, on the contrary if you own a microwave it would perhaps take about five minutes in all. However, you will need to turn the bag over in this time. Therefore, when it is nice and warm, you can place it on the back of your neck and finally get some consolation from this!

We all suffer aches and pains at various times as a consequence I now and then find it somewhat hard to suppose that people haven't tried this remedy. So many people are crippled with back pain and lose so much time off work.

Others suffer with blinding headaches and migraines for days on end in a darkened room. Whilst women can go through agonies at their time of the month with period pains and particularly stomach cramps.

For that reason you can grasp that these bags achieve a purpose in addition to being aromatic. So, if you have not tried one of these, you don't know what you are missing! Now is the time!
