Heartburn or GERD can Kill

Heartburn is a common annoyance. The busy lifestyle, quick meals, fatty or spicy foods all contribute to the occasional need of a chewable pain reliever. The acceptance of heartburn as an inconvenient, but natural, part of the daily grind can blind you to the warning that a severe heartburn symptom can bring.

Heartburn as a Disorder

Heartburn can be a symptom as well as a disorder. Simple heartburn or GERD can be controlled and dealt with. However, heartburn can signal the presence of a much more serious problem. If it’s heartburn, you will have a burning sensation in the chest usually after eating. There may be a spread of the burning to the throat, sometimes accompanied by a bad taste, difficulty in swallowing, belching, coughing, hoarseness and/or wheezing.

It can become worse by lying down or bending over or by eating. Relief can come from an antacid. While the more severe heartburn symptoms may be mistaken for a heart attack, simple heartburn is usually not made worse by exercise. If there is any concern that the pain may signal a heart attack, get help quickly.

Natural ADHD Remedies

By Julie Hellstrom

This is our experience with ADHD natural remedies. We've tried several different things, and what we've found is that different things work for different kids. Medication, natural ADHD remedies, and behavior modification programs have all worked with our kids. This particular article is about ADHD natural remedies.

Apparently more common than not, we have discovered that out of our five adopted chicklets, three have ADHD or ADD. After four years of taking medication, our fifteen year old has declared that she "is her own person" and will no longer cooperate taking her medication. Unfortunately, this has caused her to get into a little bit of trouble.

My son, who is eleven, has started on some medication and it has helped him with bedwetting at night, and is doing well. He can now better enjoy sleepovers.

My littlest lamb also suffers from ADHD, and it is only one of many health concerns he is dealing with. Some of the things that are making his ADHD near impossible to deal with are sensory integration disorder, and cerebral palsy. Smells out of the ordinary and textures in his mouth his body will physically reject. After attempting a couple of different medications, we discovered that this was the reason that he could not take his meds (we have set up a counseling fund already due to this setback!).

Believe me, I tried everything! Hide it in ice cream, sprinkle it on waffles, pushing it back on his tongue. He just couldn't swallow it and he could definitely taste the bitterness. So then we tried the patch.

Since this is only available in the stimulant form, we had serious bounce back when the medicine started wearing off. He became weepy and destructive. That didn't work either.

I did hear from a naturopath that caffeine offsets the symptoms, so for 6 months this lucky kiddo got Diet Pepsi for lunch. (No sugar which would negate the purpose!) Saw little difference here. And I was nearing the end of my rope and the doctor said we may need to research other things that might be taking place instead of ADHD.

Exasperated, I googled "my son has ADHD and can't take meds". I thought I might be on to something when several homeopathic remedies came up. After doing some research, I took a hard look at Focus Formula from Native Remedies. On the upside we found that it was made from all natural ingredients, and on the downside, we found that it would take at least three weeks before we would see results. We forged ahead anyway.

The outcome was incredible! I have just ordered my second bottle. For staying on task at school, my kiddo went from earning zero points (the lowest) to eleven (the highest)! Three months later, my son is self motivated where his homework is concerned, is more focused, while earning an average of eight points at school. His frustration level is dramatically reduced. One of the biggest perks is that the medication is in droplet form and not pills. Just a few drops in his root beer and he gulps it down. He will even add the drops himself!

I am overjoyed and my son is much happier. It has made such a difference in our boy. If your having the same issues that we were with 'pill swallowing' than you might consider what we did. Look into some natural ADHD remedies like Focus Formula, it made all the difference for our baby.
